Amazon Still Rules the eBook Jungle

I have to laugh when I think about all those predictions that the IPad would prove to be the Kindle-killer. While the IPad has sold well, I said early on that it wouldn’t necessarily hurt the Kindle. This statement has, over the last few months, proven accurate. The latest news coming from Amazon Kindle country is that, not only has the recent price drop help Amazon increase sales of the Kindle, but Amazon is now selling more eBooks than hardcovers. So stick that in your briefcases and file it.

Apple doesn’t possess the Holy Grail of eBook publishing and Amazon will always control a bigger slice of the pie simply because they also sell hardcovers and had a substantial head-start over Apple. But the larger point is that the eBook market is growing to the extent that there is plenty of business for everybody. No one device or company will dominate.
