I remember that in an early episode, Castle met with some of his writer friends for a game of poker. If I'm not mistaken, the friends were actually played by Patterson and Cannell (I remember them because they were really terrible actors). So, I'm inclined to conclude that Patterson and Cannell are the ghostwriters for "Heat Wave." I, myself, will probably not buy the book as I don't like Patterson's books even though I love the show.
