Sometimes They See You Coming

I’ve been technically unemployed for a while now — somewhat gainfully unemployed, doing the odd freelance writing assignment and whatever scraps of an income I eek out of this blog. That’s still a far cry from being gainfully and fully employed with benefits. As such, I spend a portion of my day scouring the Internet, newspapers and other sources for job openings. I was doing Service Job Search this morning and found that most of the listings for so-called “jobs” were nothing more than work-at-home scams, linking to third-party sites that want you to subscribe to a database of alleged employers of part-time work you can do a home in front of a computer. What bothers me is that these days, there’s so many people out of work and desperate for money, they’ll be inclined to fall for these con jobs. It’s disgusting.
