You Can’t Get There Without a Driver

If you own a computer (and if you are reading this blog, I assume you do), you’re probably at least vaguely aware of Computer Drivers without considering how important those little programs are to the proper functioning of your machine.

Drivers are programs which act as a mediator or translator between your computer’s operating system and the other hardward components installed on your computer. Some drivers, such as your, Monitor Drivers usually come pre-installed on your computer when you purchase it. Other hardware comes with driver files on disk that you install when you install the new hardware. More recently, as USB has become the standard for connecting gadgets to a computer, PCs running Windows has offered a wizard to help install a variety of USB Drivers for a variety of hardware.

Because a driver file that becomes corrupt or out-of-date can cause your PC to malfunction, it’s important to regularly update drivers. You’d be surprised how often a seemingly major hardware mishap will turn-out to be a corrupt, missing, or out-dated driver file that needs an update.
