Writing Prompt #3: Trash Day

It’s time for another writing prompt. Yeah, I know, writing prompts suck. But this one might be fun. So here’s the prompt:

You ever notice how guys in pick-up trucks act like they own the road. Sure, you have. If you own a truck, I’m sure you act like you own the road. You can’t help it.

You have two guys. Gus is a short, stubby loudmouth who owns a pickup truck — a big truck. Could be a Toyota or a Dodge, although I’ve always thought the Dodge was a bit more imposing. Daryl is a tall man who’s a bit quieter, more white collar and bookish. Daryl may or may not also own a truck, but his will be a smaller truck. The two of them are neighbors and they don’t exactly like each other. Anyway, it’s trash day and both men have loaded up their vehicles with their garbage and have proceded to the town dump. While they are unloading their trash, they begin a conversation. It doesn’t matter what the conversation is ultimately about or how it ends (that’s up to you) but, you must begin the dialogue with Gus addressing Daryl with, “Hey, Daryl. How do you like my new truck?”
